Working Location: West China (Gansu)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
This position in Seminis Production department. Responsibilities include monitoring and supervising the field production activities of suppliers to ensure that proper procedures are being followed by growers and the varieties are correct, and the details are as below:
· Production planning:
- Coordinate vendors to implement our production plan
- Work closely with related people to make sure we receive correct and enough stock seed and deliver the stock seed to growers on time
· Monitor production process:
- Ensure our procedures are followed by growers
- Coordinate QA to conduct field inspections to ensue the quality problems can solved quickly.
- Advise growers about our varieties to ensure we produce right ones and also the advice from breeders about the problem found in the field.
· Coordinate vendors to ship the seed on time:
- Work with QA department to follow up the QA results
- Help vendors to ship the seed as soon as possible
- Enhance the seed quality by working with QA and operations
· ESH, FCPA, and Human Right
- Train vendors to follow our ESH protocols and FCPA and Human Right policies
· Crop follow up:
- Monitor and follow up the crop information is updated onto SAP on time
· Complete 6-sigma or lean manufacturing training and certification and use these skills to work on projects that benefit the customer and maximize savings for manufacturing.
Travel outside of China possible to assist with meetings / trainings
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
· Education: College degree in Agriculture or related majors
· Experience: 4 or more years in field production
· Excellent communications skills including the capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications (bilingual in Chinese/English)
· The ability to communicate with different reporting levels in multi-national and cultural organization as an individual or a team.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced global and multi-cultural vegetable seed company.
· Decision making and problem solving skills. Capability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
· Challenging the status quo to improve processes and the way things are done.
· PC proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Access, Power Point) and ability to demonstrate computer skills.
· Important: Knowledge of seed production, seed physiology, experimental design, data collection and analysis, statistical software knowledge, excellent communication skills, BS degree, Excellent Chinese/English verbal and written skills.
· Nice to Have: Knowledge of vegetable seed production, Education level M.S. or Ph. D, familiarity with six sigma process improvement.
Must Have: Able to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate well with a team. Have experience with data collection and analysis and an inquisitive personality.
